According to this Houston Chronicle article, “the most popular money-saving option is for companies to conduct audits to make sure that every dependent listed on an employee's health plan is eligible for coverage.”

Of the 150 Houston-area firms that HR Houston surveyed this summer, 22 percent were currently conducting dependent audits, and another 14 percent planned to do so before the end of the year.

Texans seem to be especially aware of these smart cost containment measures, with 80 percent of those surveyed saying that conducting a Dependent Eligibility Audit was “worth the investment in time and money.” Indeed, among current Health Decisions dependent audit clients, one-third are headquartered in Texas.
